“WITHOUT BONES YOU GOT TO GOO FAST”

Sentinax is a 2D speedrunning game set in a dystopian setting. The goal of the game is to reach the end as fast as possible. By utilizing the 2 different forms that you have. you’re the fastest with your exo form and have the ability of double and wall jump and can also make a dash. In your bio form your a bit slower but can walk on walls you’re also a bit smaller so you can travel through vents.

For this project i was mainly the developer and designer. I took the role of developer on me because i had a bit of experience on developing in c# and our group didn’t had a proper developer on our team. I spend most of my time thinking about the characters movements and coding them.

Design

The basic concept of sentinax was to be a fast 2d platformer. But that alone wasn’t enough. we wanted it to have a gimmick which set it apart from the thousand other platformers. So after some thinking me and the other designer came with some concepts. We both found 2 concepts good and I decided to work them both out with the gimmick that you can switch between these character movements.

(Note: during some changes in art mech is called exo now)

Flaws

The biggest flaw that we had in this project is that we were too overconfident. For me this was especially true on the development part. At the start of the project everything went well. But a bit later on i got some clashes with the codes especially with the bio form. instead of talking this over with my teammates and try to change the concept a bit i stubbornly kept trying to fix it without full success.

Because of this flaw i really learned in future project to keep a game concept a bit simpler so that you can actually make an decent working game in the end.
