No Sanctuary

“Remember your past in this bunker”

No Sanctuary is a game where you can explore a bunker that is based on the bunkers in Berlin. The bunkers were never used fortunately but it was fascinating to look at some and my team decided to make a game based on the bunkers in Berlin.

my input

For this project, I was mainly the designer and helped with 3D art. The most important design issue was how the bunker was supposed to look and how big it should feel compare to the player. Most of the time I spend on how the layout of the bunker should be and where the items should be and what the items should be. I worked a lot together with the sound designer to discuss where the items in the bunker should be and how far and what kind of sound should be near the item. In order for the player to find these items. When most of this was clear and done I helped with the 3D models and textures.

Design

The basic concept of No Sanctuary was to let you feel how it would feel like to live in a bunker. So we decided to run this game in VR so it would feel more as if you’re actually there.

But the game felt a little too empty everything was blank because you couldn’t bring anything with you to the bunker if the war would break out.

So we had to decide if we would go for a pure realistic experience in a bunker or if we would change a few things. We decided to go for the latter for the reasons that the game would probably be a better experience for the player and we never could achieve a pure realistic bunker experience. Since we had to put in a lot of human models and our computers probably couldn’t handle it.
